Exercise CAN Slow the Aging Process

Ageless Intensity: High Intensity Workouts to Slow the Aging Process is now out and available for sale. The book is a culmination of my work over the past 10 years to understand how exercise can change the body’s response to the aging process. This blog covers the top things you will learn in Ageless Intensity about how exercise can slow aging.
The 3 Things that Sparked My Interest in Exercise and Aging
1. Watching my 2 grandfathers; they were about the same age, but in their later years had much different lifestyles based on their exercise habits.
2. As a young personal trainer (in my mid-20s) I would recommend that “older” exercise participants limit their intensity based on what I had read in textbooks. Too many times the response was, “I barely feel like I’m working out at that heart-rate;” which brought the realization that what we currently know about exercise and aging might be incomplete.
3. Playing mens’s club rugby; there is an ethos within the rugby culture of playing as long as you are able to; at the start of my club rugby career, in my early 20s, it was amazing to see men in their late 40s and 50s still playing the game, not for money but for the competition, the camaraderie with teammates and to stay physically fit. That was what motivated me to commit to a fit lifestyle: to maintain the fitness and ability so that I can enjoy all of my favorite activities, no matter my age.
My Job is to Know How Exercise Changes the Human Body

In my career as a personal trainer and fitness instructor and now fitness educator and content creator, I have had the opportunity to work with the 2 largest personal trainer certification organizations: the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), the largest health club companies in the US and some of the most well known product companies: Nautilus and StairMaster to develop education programs. Among other topics, many of these education programs teach fitness professionals how to design workouts, how to understand human anatomy and what to know about how the aging process changes the body’s response to exercise.
Here’s the thing: according to the published research, as long as you exercise consistently, exercise can slow down the aging process and allow you to continue enjoying your favorite activities well into your later years! And that is the focus of Ageless Intensity: High Intensity Workouts to Slow the Aging Process.
This book will help you learn how to use exercise, specifically high intensity exercise, to achieve optimal health and add years of enjoying your favorite activities to your health span.
NOTE: your life span is how long you remain alive, while your health span is the quality of live that allows you to experience life the way you want to live it in your later years.
